"The Path of the Clay" Festival

On September 26, 2020 in the central park of Cherven Bryag was held the festival "The Path of the Clay" and an open-air art workshop in which 101 participants took part - representatives of the non-governmental sector, schools, local community centers, craftsmen, farmers.

Workshop „ The backyard treasure”

The activity was conducted on 14.11.2019 at the elementary school in Bilta, Filiasi with the attendance of 50 pupils and 5 teachers. The workshop focused on the presentation of ethnographic and natural artefacts, including ceramics, widely spread, that people may find in their own backyard. Also, the Riben tablets were presented to children as well as Bronze Age clay objects and interactive stories.

Workshop „ Types of archaic ceramics”

The workshop was conducted in Goiesti, DJ, (02.11.2019-03.11.2019)  after the findings of Alexis Project Association members, that indicated old ceramic fragments to be present in the area. The team met with local representatives, and conducted a field trip, to discuss the importance of the study and preservation of cultural heritage. The findings were placed in the custody of the local authorities.

Clay promo tour – Festival 2019

Alexis Project established a partnership with the Filiasi local authorities to organise a tour for the Local Council members and other cultural activities together with the local festival 2019. The tour included local monuments, the roman camp in Bradesti/Racarii de Jos, and a presentation of ceramics included in the collection of the private museum of Alexis project in Bilta, as well as evening festivities.

Media Tour

The Media Tour was organized by Beneficiary 2 on 4-5 November 2017. The participants took part in a tour consisting in visits to selected sites included in the new tourist route "The path of Caly" . They visited the clay museum in Cherven Bryag, heading afterwords to Vratsa. After a walk through the city center a visit to the Vratsa Museum was organized. The group headed to Craiova where accommodation was arranged. For the second day a visit to Oltenia Museum (Casa Baniei) was organized and after lunch the group left for Draganesti Olt for a visit to Campia Boianului Museum. A traditional Romanian welcoming was organized at the museum and the group participated in a social event.

Festival

The festival was organized in Calafat, mostly outdoors in the city center and on the banks of the Danube river. The activities of the project “ The Path of Clay” were presented at the Art Museum in Calafat where thematical movies were also presented, about clay art and techniques to participants, for them to get a better understanding of the variety of the world of clay art.

Festival

The activities of the festival took place both indoors at the Calafat Art and Ethnography Museum and outdoors in the city park on the banks of the Danube. As in the previous workshops the modeling activities were appreciated by the participants, and created interaction the festival also included such activities organized at the Museum. Also, both on the first day and on the second day a Romanian ethnographic event was organized with artistic programs presented by the local folk dance band "Rozele Calafatului". Participants were also presented different tourist sites of the city.

Art Workshop

The activities of the workshop took place at the Calafat Art Museum, both indoors and outdoors. The participants were presented different types of ancient written tablets and symbolic alphabets.
After the presentations, the techniques of making their own "ancient tablets" were presented, participants were encouraged to design a message in a personal symbolic alphabet or any other type of object that is meant to send a message. Participants worked on their designs using clay and modeling clay and at the end of the workshop presented the works explaining their concept to the other participants.

Art Workshop

The event was organized in Calafat. The activities of the workshop took place at the Calafat Art Museum, both indoors and outdoors. The participants were required to participate in planning and organizing an outdoor clay exhibition in the museum yard. Also, using modeling clay, after establishing the exhibition layout, participants created small versions of the art objects they envisioned for the museum.

Training in sculptural technique

The existing sites of interest related with clay and the different uses of clay are traditional indoor museums, workshops, community centres and houses of culture. None of the existing sites of interest, which are known except few galleries does not expose the contemporary use of clay for monumental open air art and for small art objects. The new open air museum will expose sculptures made after this training and the workshops. The current training is necessary because for the first time in the target area an innovative method for sculpturing will be applied – industry clay will be used for art. This new method was recently included in the classes of art students in one of the Bulgarian art universities. The art clay objects which will be made in the training and after the in the workshops will be used for the new Open Air Museum in Cherven Bryag. The Bulgarian partner has rights over the area of the open air museum where the training will be organized for 7 days. The purpose of this activity is participants to be familiar with the history of clay use in the Bulgarian and Romanian lands and modern use of clay nowadays. The course will include both theoretical and practical parts and will be implemented in an area gratuitously provided for free use of the NGO for 10 years in Cherven Bryag. Will be organized a visit to the prehistoric settlement in the "redoubt" in Telish and exposition complex reopening of Neolithic dwellings. Participants will visit the biggest collection of replicas of clay artifacts and the Regional Historical Museum - Pleven. 50 youths, 25 of which will be Roma will be involved. Certificates will be provided to each of the participant at the end of the training.
